where we are today
- an unwarranted surprise? but why?
- what have we done to strengthen democracy?
- what have we done to strengthen institutions?
- what have we done to articulate a motivating aspiration for society?
- steady erosion of every value in service of the value of economic growth
- not even quality of life!
- steady erosion of every value in service of the value of economic growth
- we practice authoritarian power structures every day for 8 hours at work and 4 hours of mind-numbing entertainment at home
- we’re tired before we’ve started
- we’re out of ideas before we’ve taken any time to think
- we long for a different timeline
- we long to move to a new earth
- it is never here!
spritualandmaterial; what is left to Matter?- we have demonized the other; fellow citizens; ex friends and family
- who do we have left to interact with?
- what is the logical conclusion of thinking that “others” will never change and will never listen?
- we still think of ourselves as the land of the strong and free but in the face of all of these pressing issues we ask “but what can i do?”
- alone in our individualism we can only develop neurosis
- how much of this is cos-play?
- we have abdicated our power; given up before we’ve begun; reacted before we thought
- if incentives matter (as the billionaires and economists say they do); let’s give it a clear accounting — the incentives we had yesterday led us to today
